Around 2:27 a.m., her vehicle slammed directly into a massive tractor-trailer. The impact was incredibly violent. Immediately after the crash, Skylar’s Hyundai caught fire. The flames quickly swallowed the vehicle before anyone could save her.

First responders rushed to the scene near the Route 60 exit. Troopers found a chaotic and heartbreaking scene at the 28-mile marker. Despite their best efforts, Skylar was pronounced dead right there on the pavement. The news traveled fast and left everyone completely numb.

Now, her family and friends are forced to deal with an impossible reality. The sudden loss has left a deep, painful heartbreak in Chesterfield. People are remembering her smile, her energy, and the big impact she made in her short time here. It just does not feel real to those who loved her.

On the other side of the crash, the tractor-trailer driver miraculously walked away without any injuries. However, the truck leaked massive amounts of diesel fuel and oil across the highway. Hazardous materials crews had to spend hours cleaning up the toxic mess.

Virginia State Police are still trying to figure out exactly why Skylar was driving the wrong way. For her loved ones, the answers will not bring her back. They are just trying to find comfort in their sweet memories and lean on each other for strength. May she rest in peace.
